To make you understand the whole system of the program, here are some more details about the program:
This program is conducted by Heavenly Garden English Course and Cultural Learning which manages the program of English Learning for Indonesians and Indonesian Learning for Australians. The courses include cross cultural learning activities. The facilitator of the course is a graduate of Technical and Further Education (TAFE) College, Adelaide, South Australia and South Australian College of Advanced Education (SACAE), Underdale, South Australia.
The majority of course materials are not practiced in class rooms only but also directly practiced with native speakers of Indonesian in rural areas while enjoying the beauty of natural view of the areas. Therefore, while learning Indonesian (and also Javanese, if you like) you can visit some tourism objects.
The tourism objects which can be visited cover Borobudur, Prambanan, and Gedong Songo temple; Surakarta and Yogyakarta Palace, Sam Po Kong (Stone Building), Lawang Sewu (Building of Thousands of Doors), Marina Beach, Mount Ungaran, Widuri Beach and many others.
In addition to visiting tourism objects the program also gives you opportunity to meet people making traditional Indonesian foods and beverages like lumpia, enting-enting gepuk, tea and coffee, handy crafts like batik, tenun and troso, ukiran furnitures in home industries.
During the program you will stay with Indonesian families (home stay) to make you able to learn Indonesian culture directly from Indonesian people. Hopefully, it will make you feel at home and can mingle and make friendship with them.
As this program is mainly intended to promote good relationship and friendship between Indonesian and Australian nation, it is not conducted for profit orientation (non profit program) but you can spend your money on the the basis of our advice. We hope you can save your money and spend it wisely. You may decide to stay for a week, two weeks or even longer.
II. Location:
During the programs you will be placed in our homes in a very beautiful hilly village at the plateau of Mount Ungaran. While enjoying the panorama of mountains surrounding the village you can also enjoy the beauty of the Sun rise and Sun set. The village is very natural with its trees and cool weather of the average 20 centigrade. Every morning you get the opportunity to taste cups of tea or coffee with its natural Javanese flavour and our Javanese traditional foods. To make your body warm, supposed you are a smoker, you can also smoke Indonesian cigarettes, which are of high quality.
We hope you will enjoy your holiday and have a good time to be like Indonesians. I believe it will give you an original cultural exposure, which must be very valuable.
The distance between your home-stay and city centre of Ungaran is 2 kilometers or ten minute drive by car or motor cycle. You can also visit many tourism objects in Ungaran and its surrounding in one day trip. From Ungaran you can visit Borobodur, Prambanan, Yogyakarta and Solo Palace, in only two hours by car.
